Sunday: Tel Aviv – Moscow
We will meet at Ben-Gurion International Airport on the night between Saturday and Sunday and board a direct flight to Moscow. Landing at the early hours of the morning, we will head to the synagogue for morning prayer and breakfast. We will begin our tour at the city center with a walk in the Red Square, from which we will observe the famous, onion-domed St. Basil's church, and Lenin's mausoleum. We will also visit the GUM mall. We will continue our acquaintance with the city and drive past the Bolshoy theatre. Then, we will continue our bus ride to Lubyanka square, to see the K.G.B. headquarters, and visit Victory Park.
Monday: A Tour in Moscow and a night flight to St. Petersburg
After our morning prayer and breakfast, we will devote most of our day to a visit in the heart of the Russian Empire; the Kremlin hill, the Czar's residence and house of parliament, and the museum of the golden treasures of the Czars. In Kremlin hill, we will see the world's biggest cannon (that has never been used) and the world's biggest bell (that has never tolled) and feel the centuries-old powerful beating heart of the Russian Empire. We will head for Moscow's most exquisite mall, in the city's new zone, surrounded by dozens of modern skyscrapers, and continue for our Kosher dinner.
After two days in Moscow, we will head for the airport and board the scheduled 9:40 PM flight to St. Petersburg, Russia's erstwhile capital for 200 years, and nowadays the cultural capital of Russia, and perhaps the whole world.
After a 1.5 hours' flight, we will land in St. Petersburg and board a bus that will bring us to our hotel.
Tuesday – St. Petersburg
Our tour will begin at Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg's main boulevard, along which stand majestic buildings, bridges, palaces and public structures. We will see the canals that gave the city the name "Venice of the North" and cross the bridges to the Peter and Paul cathedral, the last resting place for the Russian Czars and Czarinas.
We will continue to the Winter Palace, host to the main building of the world's most renown museum – the Hermitage. We will watch the world's most important art collections, including works by Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Claude Monet and Vincent Van-Gogh, brought to Russia by Ekaterina the Great. In the afternoon, we will sail on the Neva river and its canals (depending on weather conditions, could be postponed to the following days) and be impressed by another view of Russia's most beautiful city.
Dinner and lodging in St. Petersburg.
Wednesday: St. Petersburg – Peterhof
We will board a hovercraft to sail over the Baltic Sea to the Peterhof (depending on weather conditions) and visit Peter the Great's Summer Palace, on the Baltic Sea shore. We will stroll through the palace gardens and see the water fountains, reminiscent of Versailles but prettier. We will return to St. Petersburg and visit the impressive monument that commemorates the 900-day siege during the second World War.
We will take an early dinner, to be on time for the show at Nikolaevsky Palace, after which we will head for the riverbank to watch St. Petersburg's famous nightly bridge opening.
Dinner and lodging in St. Petersburg.
Thursday - St. Petersburg – Pushkin, and flight to Tel Aviv
We will head for Pushkin, Ekaterina's Summer Palace, which is considered the world's most beautiful Rococo palace, with its majestic ballroom and unique Amber Room. We will explore the palace gardens. We will return to the city, to see the Peter the Great's Bronze Rider statue and then head for the 125-year-old synagogue, serving as a community center for the city's thousands of Jews. After completing our tour, we will have dinner and then leave for St. Petersburg's airport, for a short domestic flight to Moscow (taking off at 10 PM from St. Petersburg). Then, we will board El Al flight to Tel Aviv. Expected landing is at 05:25 AM, on Friday morning.
